Kate Outterbridge

Los Angeles based violinist Kate Outterbridge is a dynamic performer of classical and contemporary music, an avid promotor of music education, and seeks out new ways to bring people together through the performing arts through questioning the status quo. She recently finished up a two-year fellowship at Community MusicWorks, a non-profit organization in Providence RI, that explores what it means to be a citizen musician. A versatile performer, Kate is dedicated to promoting the works of living composers, and has performed in a wide array of venues and festivals including Disney Halls “Noon to Midnight,” New Music Detroit’s “Strange Beautiful Music, the Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab, and Bang on a Can Summer Festival.  As a teaching artist with Harmony Project,  Kate uses a blend of Suzuki pedagogy, Creative Ability Development, and mindfulness exercises when teaching children in group and individual settings, with a goal of creating a classroom full of new ideas and possibilities. When not playing her violin, Kate enjoys traveling to new places, eating dessert first, and perfecting her favorite yoga pose “shavasana.”
